Second Point On My Compass: Alignment

Alignment is - where our spirits, souls, and bodies work together in peace and harmony.
Alignment is – where our spirits, souls, and bodies work together in peace and harmony.

I know that we have all had those days where you wake up in the morning. You stumble out of bed and the day just seems to happen to you. One thing after another seems to get in the way of you achieving what you wanted to do that day. This brings me to my second compass point: Alignment. So what happened on that not so great day? Or for that matter, what happened on that really amazing day where everything just seemed so easy? Everyone you met was in a good mood. Maybe you got a promotion, received an unexpected amount of money or went on an amazing date. People just seemed nicer. What do these different experiences have in common? Alignment. That’s right, whether you have a good day or a bad one, that is what you aligned with energetically, even if it seemed to happen at random there was actually something more going on.

My favorite definition of alignment is – where our spirits, souls, and bodies work together in peace and harmony. Most of the time we don’t think much about this idea of intentionally creating that harmony in our life. Instead we create our days through habitual, subconscious thoughts. That can be a good thing or a not so great thing.

A little experiment

Abraham Hicks was the first person I ever heard mention the idea of  “prepaving your day”. You decide what it is you want to experience before the actual day or event occurs.  Close your eyes and picture something you desire in your mind. Choose what emotions you want to feel when that event happens and then feel gratitude as if it has already occurred. Add as many senses as you can to the imagined experience. You can even play some inspiring music while doing this practice or burn a scented candle. I know it sounds strange but give it a try.

Before you go to bed

Do this process right before you got to sleep. This will help to program it into your mind and your energetic vibration. Remember, the last thing you think about before you go to sleep will be the first thought in your mind when you wake up.

  • Decide how you want your day to go. What do you want to experience tomorrow?
  • Close your eyes and imagine the day as you would like it to happen.
  • Feel the emotions that you will feel during this great day.
  • Use as many senses as possible. You can play your favorite song during this process, light a scented candle or anything that will help enhance your experience and make it seem more real.
  • Feel gratitude as if the day has already happened in the way you desired.

Include intentions for anything that is important to you such as an upcoming meeting, event or whatever you want to have happen during your day. Make sure to practice feeling the emotions you would like to experience. Memorize how those sensations of joy or happiness feel in your body. Keep a journal so you can remember those intentions before you go to sleep and at the end of the next day record what happened. This is a simple way to experience alignment. It is an deliberate way to create your life and to get you where you want to go.

I have found that when I consciously align with what I want through this process I have better experiences throughout my week. I am beginning to experience momentum on my goals and positive experiences happen more easily and more frequently. Synchronicities have begun to happen and I have met some wonderful people along the way and life has become a more joyful experience.
