First Stop on My Compass: Freedom
Imagine a life where you are free to choose whatever you want to do each day. You are free to travel either alone or with people you care about. If there is an experience you want to have, you can simply research it and do it. Or imagine you have something you want to create. Maybe it’s an invention that will help others or composing a song. Perhaps there are things you want such as a new car, a new home.
This is where my first compass point Freedom helps me out. While this word has proven to be difficult for me to define I have groped around for the right words to fully embody the the feeling of freedom. Sure, it is partly about the money and what it would allow me to do in my life for myself and others. But freedom is also a shedding of old ideas and ways of doing things that just don’t work anymore. Freedom is getting up each morning and looking forward to the day, which is a choice. Each day I choose to get up and point myself towards the direction of joy. Feeling for the happiness in each part of my day consciously and retraining my mind and body to find those moments and experience them as much as possible. Creating a habit around that. Freedom is only listening to myself on what is the right choice for me and my life. It is an openness to what comes next on that path of what I desire to experience and become.
One of my favorite quotes that fully captures the essence of what it is all about:
“To be empowered—to be FREE, to be unlimited, to be creative, to be genius, to be divine—THAT IS WHO YOU ARE…. Once you feel this way, memorize this feeling; remember this feeling. This is who you really are….”
From “Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself: How To Lose Your Mind and Create a New One” by Joe Dispenza
What does Freedom mean to you? What would you choose as your first compass point and why is it important to you? I would love to know.
